Highlighting building sealants that will help you earn LEED v4 low-emitting materials credits.
The Badger is always on the prowl for products that can help teams earn LEED v4 materials and IAQ credits. We’ve recently come across a few more options in the challenging sealant and adhesive category and thought you’d want to know. Our friends at Everkem let us know they recently got final emissions testing results on three products:
Everkem Sealants
Everkem – Firestop-814+ Testing
Everkem – Sound Seal 90 Testing
Everkem – TruSil 100 Testing
Design Polymerics Duct Mastic
Our good friend Sydney at The Durst Organization also turned us on to a few more options for duct mastic from the good people at Design Polymerics. Keep those ducts from leaking with:
Design Polymerics – DP1010 Water Based Duct Sealant
Design Polymerics – DP 1020 Water Based Duct Sealant
Design Ploymerics – DP 2501/2502 Water Based Duct Liner Adhesive
Using a LEED submittal cover sheet:
There are some pretty easy best practices that can really facilitate the documentation for materials and even low-emitting products.
Here’s one that you think would be commonplace, but at least in this Badger’s neck of the woods (literally), we don’t see all that frequent – using a required LEED Submittal Cover Sheet for all subcontractors. By having a coversheet, where you require the subcontractor to provide cost and any relevant LEED data (recycled content percentages, distance from extraction and manufacture, VOC content, etc), you get all this information upfront. Or reject the submittal and send it back. Pretty straightforward! Download your free LEED v4.1 product submittal coversheet bellow.
