What Changed?
The Low Emitting Materials Database has been merged with the Materials & Resources Databases materials can be entered and tracked in a unified reporting mechanism. Prior to the update, products needed to be entered into the Sustainable Materials section and the low-emitting materials section, leading to double-effort. Now, users can make one single entry that incorporates all the M&R attributes and Low-Emitting attributes of a product, as well as manage a singular log and dashboard vs two separate logs and pages.
Why did Green Badger change the dashboard?
Many of our customers requested having one step in adding products to their project log rather than two. You asked. We listened.
Is my data safe? Is it saved?
Yes, all data has been transferred to the new UI. If you added products in both the Material and Resources credits AND the Low-Emitting Credits from the Green Badger Database – those products will now show as a single entry in the updated materials log.
*Please perform a detailed quality assurance review of your project* NOTE – If a product ends up duplicated coming from low-emitting or the existing log, please choose one entry and delete anything that may have been duplicated.
*Previously Added Custom Products* NOTE – if you added custom products in both the M&R and Low-Emitting sections for the same product – those WILL NOT be merged. Only products originating from the Green Badger database were able to be synced. For any future custom entries, you can now add M&R and Low-emitting attributes all on one common entry form. See how.
What does this mean for me? If this happens, you will simply have a product listed in the log twice – once with the BPDO attributes, and once with low-emitting attributes. It will not affect product count, as the attributes are still single contributions.
Why are the counts on my dials different?
You may notice your dials/credit contributions have changed – more than likely for the better! This is because if a product was entered just into low-emitting and not M&R, but it also had an EPD or HPD, the merge now populated those attributes and you’ve picked up bonus products! In no case should product counts have decreased.
Why is the VOC tag gray instead of green?
You may have some products where the VOC tag is gray – this product was likely added as a BPDO product but not a low-emitting product (and it falls into a low-emitting category). Users will need to select Product Subtype and select the appropriate sealant/adhesive or paint/coating product subtype to establish the allowable VOC limit and the tag will change accordingly.
What else is new?
Hide Cut Sheets
Besides combining product attributes, there are two other new functions available. First, you can now HIDE attachments you don’t want as part of your project. Due to the length of some projects in Green Badger, we need to keep documentation even when it is expired, which can lead to things like 3 HPDs for a single project. You can now HIDE those and they will not export with your project. To do so, click the Paperclip icon and then click the eye icon next to any document you wish to hide. You can always unhide them down the road should you need them. See how.
Add Custom Documentation
Second – you can now add custom documentation to attributes already provided by Green Badger. If you want to add supplemental or more recent documentation to a product, you can now do so. You cannot change any locked attribute but you can add additional files directly into the application. See how.
More Exporting Functions
You can export individual credit data, just calculators, just logs, and even omit any items that are not relevant to LEED but you are tracking for some other certification. See how.
So what’s different for a user in terms of uploading and entering data?
If you add a product that is already in our database, the relevant LEED attributes will auto populate with documentation, just like before. But now, if the product has a Low Emitting attribute, that data will also auto populate along with any EPDs, Sourcing of Raw Materials (like recycled content) and Material Ingredient Reporting (like HPDs, Declare Labels) – all in the same “page” of your dashboard.
The Materials & Resources tags are the same, but now you have Low Emitting tags as well.
You still need to add your costs, volumes, surface areas for every Low Emitting product, so the software can calculate your percentages and points.
Non-Compliant Flags – Anything in RED means that the information is required but not uploaded. Remember, for any Low Emitting category you are pursuing, you must show all products inside the weather barrier, whether or not they are compliant. The relative quantities of compliant vs. non compliant products will determine if you are above the emissions compliance required for each category.
How do I know if my individual Low Emitting Categories are compliant?
Users can see a VOC summary table by product category by clicking the Low-Emitting Materials dial on the dashboard, which will generate a popup window with the calculations. See how.
Can I export Low Emitting calculators and data separately, like before?
Yes, the EXPORT button gives you the option to export the data of each individual credit.
Who do I contact if I’m having issues?
First, try refreshing your screen. If that doesn’t resolve the issue please email one of our staff and be sure to leave a cell phone number. If you prefer, you can email us screenshots and/or videos of the issue.
