LEED v5 for Construction & Contractors: Delivering High-Performance Projects on the Jobsite

Live Session

REGISTER NOW

This live webinar is a CE-credit-eligible session designed for general contractors, construction managers, and trade partners to explore their role in LEED v5.

As LEED v5 raises the bar for performance, transparency, and accountability, contractors are playing a more central role than ever in achieving certification outcomes. This session explores how construction teams directly influence credit achievement through jobsite practices, documentation workflows, and early collaboration with design teams.

Designed for general contractors, construction managers, and trade partners, this webinar will break down what’s new in LEED v5 and what it means in practice—from aligning with frameworks like the Contractor’s Commitment to managing construction-phase requirements such as waste diversion, indoor air quality (IAQ), and ESG reporting.

Through real-world insights and implementation strategies, presenters will highlight how proactive contractor engagement can reduce risk, streamline compliance, and drive measurable sustainability outcomes on LEED v5 projects.

This webinar is eligible for 1 AIA LU / HSW and LEED-specific (pending approval) continuing education credits. This is a live online training led by Jennifer Taranto of STO Building Group and Kristin Brubaker of Green Badger.

Innovation in Construction Waste Management - Practices That Make a Difference

As construction projects face increasing pressure to meet rigorous environmental standards, mastering onsite waste strategies has become a competitive necessity. Innovation in Construction Waste Management: Practices That Make a Difference will bring together top sustainability leaders from the nation’s leading general contractors to demystify the complexities of LEED and circular economy principles.

This webinar will go beyond basic compliance, offering a deep dive into streamlining documentation, using digital tools for ESG reporting, and navigating the logistics of site separation. Participants will gain actionable insights to transform waste from a project burden into a strategic opportunity for carbon reduction and cost savings.

Meet the Presenters

Nelson Russom, Manager of Circularity, Turner Construction Company

Nelson manages Turner’s Circularity Program, applying more than 15 years of diverse project experience to develop processes and strategies that minimize landfill waste while capitalizing on material value. He is focused on leveraging Turner’s industry position to collaborate with partners on circular strategies, prioritizing practical and replicable operational improvements. Nelson holds an MS in Sustainable Engineering and an MBA from Villanova University, and is a LEED Green Associate, WELL AP, and TRUE Advisor. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Construction and Demolition Recycling Association.

  • Key Focus: Development of waste management plans, integration of waste strategies into logistics, and cross-industry collaboration.

Michael Orbank, Sustainability Manager (Northeast US), STO Building Group

A passionate advocate for circularity and zero waste, Michael oversees sustainability for Structure Tone and Pavarini Northeast. He has worked extensively across the Northeast to categorize and reduce the carbon and environmental justice impacts of traditional C&D waste disposal. As a founding member of the Carbon Leadership Forum of Boston and chair of the Reuse/Deconstruction group, Michael is a leading voice in circular construction advocacy. He believes that with early planning and owner support, innovative waste practices can lead to significant carbon and cost savings.

  • Key Focus: Connecting GCs with haulers and manufacturers to incentivize circularity and overcoming the “cost/labor escalation” myth through early communication.

Marshall Andrews, Northwest Sustainability Leader, DPR Construction

With over 15 years at DPR Construction, Marshall has been instrumental in developing in-house tools to calculate LEED ROI and leading corporate initiatives for zero waste, electrification, and carbon accounting. His project portfolio spans healthcare, life sciences, and higher education, including an AIA COTE Top 10 award-winning project. As a TRUE Advisor and LEED/WELL expert, Marshall specializes in the early integration of sustainable practices across design and construction disciplines.

  • Key Focus: Zero waste planning and operations, embodied carbon accounting, and practical site separation strategies tailored to construction schedules.
