At Green Badger, we know building a better future means thinking beyond construction sites and certification checklists. It means taking action to protect the planet we all share. That’s why we’re proud to continue our partnership with One Tree Planted, a global nonprofit that makes it easy for anyone to help the environment through reforestation. We have an ongoing commitment: for every project that uses Green Badger’s green construction compliance software, we plant 10 trees. In 2025, this led us to plant 6,000 trees in the United States.
This is one more example of how technology and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
What Is One Tree Planted?
One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focusing on global reforestation. Founded in 2014, the group’s mission is simple but powerful: to make it easy for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. They partner with local communities, governments, and environmental organizations worldwide to restore forests after fires and floods, create habitats for biodiversity, and make a positive social impact by supporting local communities.
As of today, One Tree Planted has planted hundreds of millions of trees across regions like North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific. Projects range from restoring ecosystems in California to reforesting farmland in Rwanda. Every tree helps clean the air, filter water, absorb carbon, and support wildlife.
The Green Badger Tree Planting Commitment
At Green Badger, we help builders, developers, and project teams simplify sustainability. Our software automates LEED documentation, tracks carbon emissions, and reduces the workload for project teams aiming to meet green building standards. But we also wanted to take our mission beyond software to create a direct, measurable environmental benefit tied to the projects we support.
For every project using our platform, we work with One Tree Planted to plant ten trees in areas of need around the world. That means every time a customer uses Green Badger to manage LEED compliance or track sustainability data, they’re also helping rebuild forests, capture carbon, and protect wildlife habitats.
This approach ensures that sustainability doesn’t stop at the jobsite; it extends into the natural ecosystems that make life on Earth possible.
Why Trees Matter
Trees are among the most effective tools in the fight against climate change. They absorb carbon dioxide (CO₂), release oxygen, and provide shade and shelter for humans and wildlife. But deforestation and land degradation have destroyed millions of acres of forest worldwide.
Here’s why trees are so vital:
- Carbon capture: A single mature tree can absorb up to 48 pounds of CO₂ per year. Multiply that by thousands of trees, and the impact adds up fast.
- Clean air and water: Trees filter pollutants, improve air quality, and stabilize soil near waterways.
- Habitat creation: Forests are home to 80% of the world’s terrestrial species.
- Community benefits: Reforestation projects provide local jobs, restore agricultural land, and often help reduce flood risks.
When you combine these natural benefits with the sustainable construction practices enabled by Green Badger, you get a full-circle approach to environmental responsibility.
How the Partnership Works
The Green Badger and One Tree Planted partnership is simple yet impactful. Every time a construction project is completed using Green Badger’s platform, we donate funds directly to One Tree Planted. Those contributions go toward planting trees in areas that need them most, aligned with global environmental priorities.
One Tree Planted handles the logistics, from sourcing native tree species to coordinating with local partners who plant and care for the new saplings. Once planted, the organization monitors the trees as they grow, ensuring long-term survival and ecosystem restoration.
For project teams using Green Badger, the process is effortless. By simply choosing our tool to automate sustainability tracking, they’re already helping plant trees.
Real Impact, Real Numbers
Since the start of the collaboration between Green Badger and One Tree Planted, our community has helped plant 27,000 trees around the world. That means every user, project manager, and sustainability professional who relies on Green Badger software is part of a global reforestation movement.
Those trees:
- Absorb CO₂ and help reduce the construction industry’s carbon footprint.
- Restore ecosystems damaged by deforestation or natural disasters.
- Bring new life to communities that depend on forest resources.
This ongoing Green Badger tree planting program is just one example of how construction technology can help reverse climate change trends, not just measure them.
Our Vision for a Sustainable Future
At the heart of the partnership between Green Badger and One Tree Planted is a belief that sustainability should be actionable, transparent, and inspiring. Buildings and trees may seem like they belong in different worlds, but both represent the kind of progress we want to see: growth that lasts and gives back.
When you use Green Badger software, you’re not just managing LEED documentation or tracking environmental data; you’re planting seeds—literally and figuratively—for a healthier world.
Together, we can turn every project into a symbol of environmental restoration. That’s the power of collaboration. That’s Green Badger and One Tree Planted.
